Granite is a product of Earths ancient history. Produced from volcanic magma under great pressure Granite makes up a large part of the earths surface. Granite itself is quarried all over the world; huge blocks are cut or blasted from mines. These blocks are either processed at the quarry or shipped to factories where they are then cut into slabs mostly 20mm and 30mm thick. These slabs are then polished on one face ready for shipping. It is important when fabricating a kitchen to use slabs / material from the same block to ensure the colour and pattern matches throughout your granite worktops.
At Granite Supply UK Ltd we pride our self on sourcing materials of high quality from around the globe. Granite is a natural product and therefore colour and pattern may vary, where possible we always advise our clients see the full size slabs so they are happy with their choice of stone.
Another product of Earths ancient history, Marble is basically Limestone that has been subjected to great heat and pressure. Impurities in the limestone are what give the characteristic colours and grain associated with Marble. Marble is softer and more porous than Granite therefore we do not recommend its use as a kitchen worktop however it is ideal for use in a bathroom or as flooring.
Granite Supply UK Ltd sources Marble from trusted suppliers and we are able to offer most products such as marble worktops as well as the examples shown.

Quartz composite stone is a manufactured product made from high silica's and aggregates (such as quartz, sand and granite). Slabs are then produced and machined using exactly the same methods as granite. Quartz is highly durable, easy to clean, and very strong making an excellent choice for a kitchen or bathroom work surface Quartz Composite is available in many colours and finishes. We are an authorised supplier of Quarella, Cimstone, Unistone and Silstone.
Various companies manufacture Quartz Composite but the process uses the same technology and machines to produce slabs and tiles. If you have a sample of Quartz or have seen a product we will try to match it from our suppliers where we can.
Limestone is formed mainly from ancient marine life which settled on the sea bed over many millions of years. Many layers are compacted under its own weight over time. Before selecting which type of edge you would like, you need to choose what thickness you want your worktop to be.
Normal measurements consist of 30mm for kitchen worktops and 20mm for bathroom worktops and any splash backs or up-stands are normally 20mm thick. We can also give the impression of a 40mm thick edge by glueing two 20mm pieces together. We also recommend the addition of an MDF sub-base for additional support if you choose this method.
We produce a range of edge profiles to give different finishes. Select your edge then get in touch to once you have chosen your thickness and which material you wish to use.
